How Two Big-Hearted Veterans Started AS Research To Help Millions of Americans, Veterans, and Kids In Need
Despite going to the US Air Force Academy at the same time, Steve Young and Mike Ledeboer did not know each other until they connected in the active-duty Air Force.
Steve and Mike were both high-level athletes. Mike played Division 1 football at the Air Force Academy. Steve played club soccer, was a competitive shooter, and instructor pilot.
Both had decorated military careers before being honorably discharged. They left the military with immense pride...ready to take the best parts of their training and experience to the next chapter in life.
As athletes and airmen, both spent a lot of time studying and applying nutrition and fitness. Seeing friends and veterans struggle in this area created a desire to help people with their strength, conditioning, and overall health.
As a result, AS Research was born in 2012 when Mike and Steve decided to launch a mission-based nutrition company. Nothing less than authentic, honest, charitable and always putting quality and customers first would do.

They loved helping people with fitness and nutrition, but an interesting thing happened along the way…
Despite being generally healthy, their parents started to show signs of aging. This spurred them to find healthy ways for their parents to get relief when needed and live with maximum vitality.
Quality and efficacy were already huge to Mike and Steve, but designing products with their parents in mind made it intensely personal. The result was a line of products that went beyond fitness and nutrition to help address the parts of aging none of us like.
Mike and Steve’s vision for AS Research also went beyond becoming a premier nutrition brand. They wanted it to be a force for good in the world by giving to top-rated charities, focusing on helping veterans' spouses and kids who have lost a loved one in service to our country.
They chose to honor this commitment by supporting:

Some of their best friends have died serving and defending this great country. Supporting these charities honors their memory and provides tangible benefits to the families they left behind.
They also honor their deeply rooted belief that we are obligated to “look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27).
